Summer Learning Journey Task 2

Arriving In New Zealand, Setting Sail

Image result for map of new zealand
Task - Imagine you were travelling to New Zealand from your home country on a Waka, write a short letter to a friend about your voyage.

Dear Friend,

I write this letter to you as something to remember me by. I wan't you to know that not a day goes past when I don't miss home, but now that I have settled here in New Zealand with my family I don't regret my choice.
The trip here was long and boring, there were beautiful days and there were stormy days, there were fun days when we laughed and sang songs, excited about our new life, there were days when we sat gloomy watching the horizon waiting for the first spec of land to loom out of the sea.
There are funny stories about my brother falling out out of the Waka and once we almost got lost but we are here now.
On the day we first set foot on the land it was sunny and beautiful as I felt the golden sand under my feet I knew I had made the right decision to come to this new land.
I send my best wishes for your new school next year, give your family a big hug from me.

Lots of Love, Your Best Friend

Big Foot Bike Safety Day

Room 4, learning how to Ride

Yesterday (13/11/17) Room 4 participated in the Big Foot bike safety program. Bikes were provided for the whole class and depending on the skill level of each person we were put into groups of 5 - 6 students. Once in our groups we did some drills and fun games to build our confidence in the saddle, we learnt about signalling on the road and looking back at cars without falling off.
After morning tea we got back on our bikes and my group went out on the local bike paths to learn about the rules of the road. We got back to school late for lunch. After lunch we went for a longer bike along different bike paths over the motorway and through the park. I had lots of fun learning new skills on my bike, comment if you ride a bike.

Being Cyber Smart - Solving Scenarios

Solving Scenarios

In our cyber smart lesson today with Mr V we looked at being cyber smart when something happens online. In the video above Wynstan and I are answering a question "if your best friend asks what your password is what do you do?"
Our answer was "we don't tell them because they could use it against us by signing in and pretending to be us"
In the image below I have made up a scenario for you to comment below what you would if you were in this place. I look forward to seeing you answers.

Market Day 2017, How it Went

Market Day, 2017

On Thursday 7th September it was the Wesley Intermediate Market Day. As I explained in a previous post the students of Wesley Intermediate went through the design process to create a product or service to sell at market day to the Wesley community.
The first picture is Michael Woods poising with Te Paea and the artwork he sold at his stall.
My group (Reean, Amber and Me) sold homemade muffins/cupcakes, cheesecakes and candy floss. The cheesecakes and cupcakes sold very well but because we were outside it was very windy and wet and the candy floss machine did not work very well.  So we went inside after a while but the candy floss took too long to make.
Even though we didn't do very well selling candy floss at market day we still had fun and learnt a lot.
Comment your thoughts on what I could do better next time.
Thanks

Rules: Create a sentence about this image without using the letter 'E'

Yesterday we did a writing challenge, we came up with creative ways to write without using the letter 'E' It proved difficult at the start but it got easier when I got the hang of it.
This is my sentence - An alligator can snap at anything as fast as a storm can rip through a dark sky
Try it yourself and put your sentence in the comments.
