The Words We Value

Room 4's Word Cloud
Today room 4 talked about how we want to be treated. We made a word cloud with all of the words that explain how we want to be treated. The bigger the words the more people wrote them. I chose four words from the cloud that mean a lot to me and underneath them I wrote how you can show them.  You can take the concept of these words to action both online and offline.

Get NZ Writing Challenge

Hello,
This year I am a year 8 at Wesley Intermediate School. I will be posting some of my learning progress and goals throughout this year.
We are participating in the Get NZ Writing Challenge. As a class we are filling out a big poster to send down to Northern South land College. This poster contains lots of information about our classroom and the students in Room 4. Each student will help fill our poster with fun facts and info about our classroom. We will receive the same poster from Northern South land College with facts about their class.
I am very excited about exchanging our writing with Northern South land College.

Swimming Poem

This is my poem I wrote called swimming, I called it swimming because to me all of these things relate to swimming. I like this poem because it really defines my dreamy personality. I often feel like I am in another world.

When I glide through the water
I feel like Neptune's daughter
When I ride a wave all the way to the shore
I feel like I’ve been let through a door

When I read a book, reality has gone
I am taken to such places as the amazon
It is nice when I find another place in my mind
Sometimes I feel like I am deaf and blind

When I sail over the waves
I can only see sand, sun and caves
I like the feeling of isolation
Away from everyone in creation

Our Home Country's

The the longest distance one person has travelled in our class is 18,000 km to get to New Zealand.
I think I would make to choice to move to a different country because I had family over there or I did not like it in the country that I am in.
Lots of people have parents that have come from overseas, this is a trend in NZ society.
The media makes us aware of how big the world really is.

Cyber Bulling

Today we looked at cyber bulling. But instead of thinking about the bully we looked at the person being bullied. These are the answers to the questions I think would help if I was cyber bullied:

1. The first thing I would do is go and tell somebody I trust.
2. I would talk to a teacher or family member that I trust.
3. I would be thinking about why people do it and who I was going to talk to.

Sir Peter Blake

Sir Peter Blake was a famous New Zealand sailor, he sailed around the world and won lots of races. He was a great leader all over the world and his leadership is still celebrated by New Zealanders in the country. Because it is New Zealand leadership week we did some research on Sir Peter Blake. This is made on a website called Thinglink. It has a few links on it about Sir Peter Blake on it. Go on Thinglink and see if you can make one.

Marbles In A Box

Marbles in a box

In our maths lesson yesterday we were given a complicated puzzle to solve. We very hard on it trying to figure out the answer, drawing different 3D boxes and sums.  We did figure out the answer after a while but it was a lot of hard work.
Get out a pencil and paper and see if you can figure out the problem.
Comment what you think the answer is and I will tell you if it is right.
